It’s about that time of year.

When I take some vacation time from work and start to mess with the website.  I know Ryan and other have been having some issues with the updated Gallery code, so I may try something different.

As usual, I’m open to ideas, so feel free to send anything in.

We wish all of our family and friends the best for 2008!!!

A couple of things have happened over the past couple of months.  My aunty Michi had given me some vintage photos of my father.  Now, my scanner’s not great, but you get the point.  If anyone else has vintage pictures from camp or anything else, please email me scans or do what Aunty Michi did, take a digital photo of your original picture.

Also, some pictures from Uncle Ki, Uncle Akira and Aunty Kimi’s trip to Hiroshima have started to come in.  I’ve posted them here.

I’d love to start putting more family photos here.  You can use the contact page to get in touch with me.   I usually answer within 24 hours.

Anyway, Mitsuko just sent me a couple of pictures of all the people who went over to visit.

This morning, I met Akira-Betty, Kiyoshi-Sachiko, Kimiye-Shoso and Amy-Takashi at Hiroshima Station.  After that Goro’s family had a welcome party at a Japanese restaurant with a Japanese garden. Goro’s oldest brother’s (head) family and two of Akira’s friends joined the lunch party, too.

Hi everyone! I think I figured out why the image gallery was so slow. Things seems to be displaying much better now. Please browse the gallery and tell me what you think.

I’m a little sad that all of my Japan travels really only take me to Tokyo and Osaka for work. 

Mas Tokubo gave me a call and an email a while back.  He was looking for a digital version of the Tokubo Brother’s Market picture that we used in the header of the webpage.  I have a (very large) version of the scan I made from Uncle Kiyoshi and seemed to be enough.

Apparently, it’s going to be used in a book in both English and Japanese regarding Japanese / American immigrants.  Ask Uncle Mas about the book next time you see him!

I’m migrating over to a new version of the image gallery. So, there may be some uptime problems over the weekend.

UPDATE: I think I’ve got everything moved over. Drop me a line if you see something wrong. It may not look too different, but trust me. This is a much better system.

UPDATE (again): The only issues now are aesthetics.  I’m going to make the gallery looks nearly the same as the main page.
